DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND APPLICATIONS

OVERVIEW

Department of Computer Science and Applications, a well established pioneer department started in the year 1994 with Master of Computer Applications(MCA) programme and the 5 Year Integrated M.Sc degree programme in Software Engineering started in the year 2001. The department has collaborations with IT industries and it is investigating sponsored Research projects from various Government agencies in the area of Computer Applications. In order to bridge the gap between industry and institute, software experts from well known companies address the students on current trends in the software industry.

Objective:

 The programmes aim at producing high quality software professionals for industry through sound theoretical and practical training.

Our department students are carrying out projects in current and advanced technologies making use of the following softwares: UNIX networking, Java Networking, Javascript, XML, VB script, ORACLE, etc. They are also involved in the Periyar PURA project. Each student undertakes six months fulltime industrial project for confidence building and to gain knowledge and insight into real-work situations.
