Co-Curricular Activities

The Department of Management Studies of Periyar Maniammai University, Vallam, was organized a three days workshop on entrepreneurship Awareness camp for students (EACS) on 27th, 28th and 29th August 2008. This workshop has been sponsored by ISTE, New Delhi. Around 90 students were participated in the workshop.

Session : I

Time : 11.30 – 12.30

Resource Person : Mr.M.P.Pandikumar

Topic : Indian Entrepreneurship – the present, past and future.

This section was focused same of the widely favoured concepts and terms entrepreneurship the pointed out the need of the hour in our country is to develop entrepreneurs or future lies in entrepreneurship people of our country are intelligent and talented. However, they need to be encouraged and supported by government policies and programmes. He pointed out evolution of Indian Entrepreneurship and the role of entrepreneurship in economic development.

Resource Person : Dr.H.Parveen

Topic : Identification of Business Opportunities

In her presentation she focused on identification of business opportunities after the generation of business ideas, the next step would be to screen them for identifying the business opportunities. She emphasized that the entrepreneurs should have the ability to spot a business opportunities among the various business ideas. She also said that various sources of identification of opportunities at the gathering.

Topic : Small Scale Industries - an Introduction

Mr.K.Balasubramanian, CEO, Creative Management Consultancy, was the resource person for this session. He was delivered in a way, small and large scale enterprises are two legs of Industrialization Process of a country. Hence, SSI are found in existence in every country. SSI have been given important place in the frame work of Indian Planning since beginning both for economic and ideological reasons. In his presentation, he mentioned the opportunities available for adopting an entrepreneurial career, the role of small scale enterprises play in the economic development of a country, and what are the major problems faced by SSI.

Topic : Financial aspects of SSI unit

The key objective of the session was to enrich the knowledge about financial aspects of SSI unit, including salient features of Financial Project in, BEP working by capital person said and explained in detail the subsidies that would accrue to new entrepreneurs under Govt. schemes. Through the session, he was mentioned about capital should, term loans, sources of short tem finance, and other aspects of the entire gamut of financing of small scale industries.

Topic : Creative and Business Idea

The objective of the session was to understand the creativity and business. He said that a business ideas is business seed, which expands and grows into a business tree a business idea can emerge from technical source (or) from the market source. He stressed that the entrepreneurs can pick up new ventures ideas by observation also, once the idea or group of ideas is generated, the planning and developing process begin. If more ideas emerges, then they must be evaluated and screened.

Topic : Success Stories of Successful entrepreneur

Time : 10.00 – 11.15

Resource Person : Mr.S.Saravanan

Topic : Communication, Problems solving and decision making skills

The resource person opened the floor for discussion. The participants and faculty members asked a number of relevant questions and clarification on about problem solving, methods, Decision-making and its process. The also mentioned about importance of communication, training and competent level of entrepreneurs.

Time : 11.30 – 12.30

Resource Person :Dr.A.Arul Raj

Topic : Project report preparation

Dr.A.Arulraj was the resource person and he addressed the participants on project report preparation. He said that small entrepreneurs also need to draw the business plans because right from the conception of a business idea up to production involves numerous decisions to be taken formulation of project report is one the first corner stores to be laid down in setting up an enterprise. He gave many ideas on how to prepare the project report and the common errors made by the entrepreneurs while formulating project reports, business plans are also highlighted.

The workshop was validated on 29th August with the welcome address by T.M.Mohamed Imran, I year MBA, PM University. The valedictory address was given by Dr.M.Ayyavoo, Registrar, Periyar Maniammai University. The Valedictory function ended with vote of thanks by Mr. J.Rajesh Khanna Co-ordinator, EACS – 08, Periyar Maniammai University, Periyar Nagar, Vallam, Thanjavur. In this three days workshop exports in field of entrepreneurship were delivered a lecturers to the participants under various technical session.
