DEPARTMENT OF MSC SOFTWARE ENGINEERINGS
The M. Sc. Software Engineering Department (5 year Integrated) of this university was started in the year 2001. The syllabus and curriculum structure were as per the Anna University pattern. Since the present academic year 2008-09, the Periyar Maniammai University has equipped this department with a new syllabus and curriculum for its own. This curriculum has been devised in the frame work of “Software Engineering 2004 curriculum guidelines for undergraduate Degree programs in Software Engineering, IEEE CS & ACM 2004”.
To impart knowledge based and value based education for students so as to produce multi faceted IT professionals who will meet the demands of software industry and society.
OBJECTIVE
To become a center of excellence in specific area of software engineering.
To become a consultancy services in IT areas.
To take the outcome of high-end technologies to rural areas in line with PURA.
To involve R&D activities.
Highlights of the Course:
The 5-year integrated M.Sc Software Engineering Programme has been in vogue in Indian Universities for the past 10 years. This system could have been derived from similar programmes in many western universities where it was followed for the past 25 years, perhaps with variations in the number of semesters etc.,
Basically, the M.Sc Software Engineering course differs in several aspects from other computer-oriented courses. The core structure of this course is in the form of Software Architecture and Design and Quality management concepts. This is in tune with the changing global phenomenon replacing classical manual programming by software designer.
