Biotechnology is a unique course in Engineering which has a well synchronized curriculum, between Sciences – Biosciences and Engineering – Technology. The phenomena of Biotechnology successfully makes several wide applications over Process Industries, Medical Industry, Pharmaceutical Industry, Agricultural and Food Industries, and, Energy & Environment sectors. Biotechnology is also a field of applied biology and involves living organisms encompassing modern technologies such as Genetic Engineering and Tissue Culture Technologies.

  • The Department strives for excellence in biotechnology education and research aligned with global innovation and social responsibility. It emphasizes interdisciplinary learning, including B.Tech Biotechnology (Data Analytics specialization) integrating biotechnology with AI, bioinformatics, and data analytics, along with M. Sc Biotechnology and DST Nano Mission–funded (2009) M. Tech Nanotechnology programmes. The focus is on student-centered learning to build critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. It promotes research and industry collaboration for sustainable solutions in healthcare, agriculture, livestock and environment. The department also develops globally competent graduates with strong ethical values and lifelong learning abilities.
