Periyar Quiz is an experience that is all about rationalist thinking. Based on the ideologies of Thanthai Periyar whom the UNESCO has described as "the prophet of the new age, the Socrates of South East Asia, father of social reform movement and an arch enemy of ignorance, superstitions, meaningless customs and base manners", this quiz game is set across various chapters of choice like his own history, thoughts & ideologies and public life to name a few. The quiz is based on the life history, thoughts and ideologies of Thanthai Periyar detailed in the wonderfully composed book – Periyar 1000, available in two languages English & Tamil.

Instructions for Students

School Registration Form

  • All registrations should be completed with required details in the prescribed format and to be submitted to respective coordinators latest by August 13, 2022.
  • The Answer Sheet will be in the form of a coding sheet. It contains circles to be shaded.
  • The printed Coding sheet number will be your Register Number and it will be used for identity purposes also.
  • Students are advised to make a note of the Register Number. The winner's register number will be announced in the final result.
  • Students must fill in their name, class, name of the school, house address and mobile phone number at the specific spot and the same has to be shaded properly and signed.
  • The District code number given by the coordinator should be filled in column '2. District code' and shaded properly.
  • The printed code and number on the Question sheet (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J) must be filled in the column '3. Question code' and shaded properly.
  • The Question sheet will contain 45 questions. Four (4) answers will be given for each question (A, B, C and D). The correct answer must be chosen and the corresponding letter specified for it must be fully shaded. (A model sheet is attached)
  • For objective type questions (choosing the right answer) 45 marks @ 1 mark for each question (the questions will be based on the Compilation of 1000 questions & answers about Thanthai Periyar); 5 marks for written answers. The last question will be a descriptive one and it should be written in a separate white paper. The test will be conducted totally for 50 marks
  • No marks will be deducted for incorrect answers.
  • Only students who have registered will be allowed to attend the test.
  • Results will be published on 10th Sep. 2022 through https://pmu.edu/periyarquiz website.
  • Prize distribution will be on 17th Sep. 2022. Three prizes will be given for each school.
  • Top 3 winners in the District will be given cash awards. If there is more than one winner carrying equal marks in any category; prize money will be equally shared among winners.
