The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was started in October, 1988. It aims to produce quality professionals in Electronics and communication engineering to compete globally and excel by carrying out basic and applied research in emerging areas. The Department is accredited by National Board of Accreditations for the year 1998, 2001, 2004, and 2009 respectively.

The primary focus of our curriculum is on imparting technical know-how to the students, promoting their problem-solving skills and innovation of new technologies. The curriculum is developed in consultation with the experts from reputed Industries and Academic Institutions. Suggestions from the stakeholders such as parents, alumni, employers and students are received and incorporated in the overall development of the department. Programme Overview

The Electronics and Communication Engineering programme provides students with a strong theoretical and experimental understanding of the principles underlying hardware and software. All Engineering programs are based on a common first year, with specialization beginning in the second year of study.

The curriculum is a mixture of discipline-specific engineering courses rounded out with knowledge-broadening courses in sciences and humanities. The fourth year of a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering includes an engineering design project, in which students must both define the problem and identify the solution. Laboratories are well equipped and the department in association with TEJAS Networks, Bengaluru has established a Centre of Excellence for Next Generation Networks.

This center provides hands on training to the students on Installation and commissioning of Optical Networking Switches.

Scope of ECE

  • Electronics and Communications Engineering is one of the vast and rapid growing field of engineering. Electronics and Communication Engineering will take the students to the part of biggest Information Technology revolution in day to day life such as Mobile, IoT and 5G etc.
  • After completing the course the students will become as Electronics Test Engineer,Electronic Systems design Engineers, Microelectronics Engineer,Hardware Engineer Instrumentation Engineer Manufacturing Engineer, and Network Engineer, Telecommunication engineers as well as researchers and university professors.

  • Short term training courses on fiber optic networks, wireless networks, automation technologies, digital signal processing and embedded systems are conducted.

  • Through the Centre for Distance Engineering Education Programs (CDEEP), seminars and workshops conducted by institutions such as IITs and NITs are delivered to the students and faculty.
PLACEMENT
  • Students have been recruited as Scientists by the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Government of India, to work in BrahMos , a Supersonic Cruise Missile project.
